Gallery - Wood Art Scrollsaw Bowls

Below are some of the Bowls that I have made using a router and a scrollsaw. It is a great way to produce  some truly unique and beautiful bowls with wonderful grain patterns and exciting shapes that cannot be accomplished with a lathe. It can be done with ordinary equipment including a router, drill press and a scrollsaw (My Favorite DEWALT DW788 1.3 Amp 20-Inch Variable Speed Scroll Saw). All the information and complete instructions are described in a great book that I found in my local library called ” Making Wood Bowls With a Router & Scroll Saw” By Patrick Spielman and Carl Roehl. Allthough the book is out of print you may find it at your local library or purchased used through the link above.

The process has a feel of sculpture and woodworking combined. After you build the necessary jigs and sanding balls all you will need is a 3/4 to 1 in thick board and some persistance. The shaping and sanding can be time consuming, but the results are amazing.
